Giving students access to video content is a massive issue for most schools as most of the popular video streaming services are blocked or heavily filtered e.g. youtube.com and vimeo.com
For this reason over the last few months, we have been working with our partner schools and KPSN Light Speed filter to find a better solution for hosting our video tutorials. In our trials, the following video hosting service has passed all of the basic school filtering tests and we are now starting to implement it for our video tutorials, sproutvideo.com
If you are having issues viewing the video content because of a filtering message, get your schools IT support department to unblock the following URL:
The below screenshot has also been supplied to us by KPSN to demonstrate the level of permissions this URL can have if required
Because sproutvideo.com doesn’t have a public video sharing area all of our test schools have had no problems getting this service unblocked for all of their students.
I hope this helps but if you do have any further issues with videos being blocked please don’t hesitate to contact us.
